Revictimization is a consistent finding for victims of rape and assault. Some traumatized individuals remain preoccupied with the trauma at the expense of fully engaging in living. Trauma Sensitive Assault Prevention is a 12 week adjunctive therapeutic treatment modality that bridges the gap between traditional talk therapy and assault prevention classes. The goal is to empower the client and provide a physical experience to support the referring clinician's treatment plan. Help your client gain control of her life, rather than repeating the trauma in action, mood or somatic states.
The program consists of 12 weekly group sessions of ninety minutes each. The training phase takes place during the first half of each session. The client group is educated and trained in the state-of-the-art strategies and techniques of assault prevention. The second half of each session is the process and integration phase, during which the clients sit down with the therapist and the trainer and discuss their thoughts and feelings from the training phase, as well as their progress toward empowerment and the goal of gaining control of their lives.
